Chris Marker's Sans Soleil, Sunless in English, is a unique fusion of doc, travelogue, and philosophy journal. The best I can do to describe it is call it a meditation on time and memory. The writing was sometimes poetic and thought-provoking, but mostly obfuscatory. What made it more difficult to follow was the lack of a central plot or story. Which made the pacing terrible. The editing overall was relatively poor. However, the cinematography was absolutely breathtaking. There is a scene involving the shooting of a giraffe that was truly captivating.
